Hoeveel Neerpeltenaren hebben de eer gehad geïnterviewd te worden door dat Britse topweekblad, The Observer? Niet één, totnogtoe. Maar nu is het dan toch gebeurd en de eer is te beurt gevallen aan Raf Simons. Hij wordt omschreven als "The geek who conquered the fashion world" (de computerfreak die de modewereld veroverde). Journaliste Alice Fisher over Raf: "He's an intellectual Belgian with a passion for art and youth culture. He's also the most influential menswear designer in the world - and his new womenswear collection could change contemporary fashion". En dat toptalent is pas 40 jaar! Lees het interview Een mooie uitspraak van Raf daarin:  "When I was young, I knew I wanted to do something creative and run, run, run from this Catholic, mathematics, Latin, Greek education. I was trying to find out everything about art. I realise now that though I didn't like school, it was a good reality. These kids don't feel what an important part of reality that is". Hij heeft het dan over jongeren voor wie het leven bijna uitsluitend bestaat uit online zijn, en hij zegt bezorgd te zijn over wat ze allemaal missen.
